The CBA Festival of Archaeology 2026 takes this year’s theme of “Archaeology and Nature”. CADVAS (Corwen & Dee Valley Archaeological Society) is marking it with a Guided Walks Programme of four walks across the Dee Valley. Full details of each walk are below.
Walk 1: Corwen Memory Walk
Monday July 20, 2026
Meet in Green Lane Car Park (LL21 0DN) at 10.30am.
Join Chris Jones (CADVAS) as we meet the ancestors on a memory walk, discovering some of the hidden corners of the historic town of Corwen.
Walk 2: Llantysilio
Wednesday July 22, 2026
Meet in Horseshoe Falls Car Park (LL20 8BN) at 10.30am.
Join Andy Harrop-Smith; renowned Storyteller and local Folklorist for a walk with a bit of a difference! Taking the theme of this year’s festival, which is “Archaeology and Nature”, Andy will link it with local stories and folktales…so expect to encounter the tales of King Arthur, Dinas Bran, St. Collen and the Tylwyth Teg and more…
Walk 3: Carrog Memory Walk

Park by Carrog Bridge — Meet at Carrog Station at 10.30am.
Join Chris Jones (CADVAS) on a leisurely stroll around the charming village of Carrog, discovering its secrets along the way!
Walk 4: Nant y Pandy Archaeological Walk

Meet at Glyndyfrdwy Railway Station at 10.30am.
Join Fiona Gale MBE (Cambrian Society & NEWHF) as she leads us up to the old quarry workings above the village of Glyndyfrdwy. Taking this year’s festival theme of “Archaeology and Nature” Fiona will show how this once thriving industrial site has succumbed to the inevitable march of Nature.
