Excavations at Cwmffwrn Farm, Abbeycwmhir, Powys, July 2025
This summer the Abbey Cwmhir Heritage Trust will be continuing the excavation of an important settlement site within the home grange of the Cistercian abbey in the beautiful hills of north Radnorshire. Abbey Cwmhir is celebrated as the burial place of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the last welsh born Prince of Wales, in 1282.
The house platform at Cwmffwrn offers a rare opportunity to investigate the origins of a long abandoned upland settlement, working with a small team of dedicated participants, led by professional archaeologists – Trysor.
For details go to the Abbey website.
Newport Ship Project

Volunteers are the life-blood of the Friends of Newport Ship. Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, with differing skills and abilities assisting the project in various ways.
Whatever your interest, the project has many areas where you can help, from lending a hand to keep the Ship Centre clean and tidy to professional skills like public relations and business administration.
